The Days of Abandonment
By Roberto Faenza with Margherita Buy, Luca Zingaretti and Goran Bregovic
Film in competition at the 2005 Venice Film Festival
Olga, an apparently serene and fulfilled wife, is suddenly abandoned by her husband for a very young woman and falls into a never-ending vortex. The loss digs deep caves. Olga does not eat anymore, she stuns herself, she lets herself be dragged to the darkest and painful bottom of degradation. Mainly shot in subjective, the film develops with a plot that we could define a thriller of the soul, laden with amazement and fury until, also thanks to the encounter with a Serbian musician, Olga will begin to find herself again.
